I'm glad that the USCF clothing police.......
.....are no longer around. Well, maybe they are around, but the rules have eased up a bit.
Back when the jerseys above were the "thing" to have - and the team to be on - we had the United States Cycling Federation clothing police at races. And the rules were strict - so strict, in fact, that we had to tear the labels off of our cycling shoes(yeah, that Sidi name or Duegi name on the side of the shoe was considered too big.......so off it came). It was the whole amateur thing - and how we couldn't have advertisements on our clothing that was too big........couldn't wear cycling hats if it wasn't from our team........had to tape up the names on the jerseys if the ads were from a different team/company.......and on and on it went. In other words, it was pretty stupid. And being the obnoxious teenager I was at the time, you can imagine how I responded to some of the rules......in short, I wasn't too happy......and I know that I caused Bob Leibold a little grief at one race about it(where he was the Chief Ref). And for that, I am kicking myself! Without Bob, racing in northern California would be.....well......not quite so epic. I am sorry Bob!
