"That guy is such a Fred!"
It cracks me up to hear cyclists say that this guy or that girl is a Fred because they ride a bike that might be pretty common in the States. I mean, what in the world are they talking about??? Hey, these "Freds" have a bicycle, they ride it, they enjoy themselves, they're getting fit....and in some cases, they are getting quite fast! So, let 'em ride what they want.
Sure, I suffer from a massive case of bike lust. But I also know that I picked a pretty common bicycle for the simple reason that it rode the way I wanted it to......super comfortable, handled well, great power transfer.....and it was just a joy to ride it. 'Nuff said - that's the one. Am I a Fred?? Probably. But I would rather be considered a Fred than to ride a bicycle that felt like it would turn me inside out. It's like Richard said about his bicycle - It's like you're riding IN the bike, not on it. Sweet......
