Don't think you're immune.....

.....That is what I was thinking when, during the past three weeks everyone around me was sick. My wife, all the staff where I work, and most of the patients we work with. Everyone was sick - and it was all the same thing.....fever, congested, headache, pounding eardrums, sore throat and a cough. I felt great though - no sickness - I was around everyone who had it....but I felt great! Hey, I'm an athlete - I take care of my body. I take my supplements, I exercise, I get enough sleep, I wash my hands, and yes, I even OCD my germ phobia. And to top it off, I didn't Guinea Pig once during the last couple of weeks - just kept it nice and steady.

Well, yeah, you guessed it - woke up this morning feeling like crap. All the symptoms above, plus no energy at all. All I feel like doing is sleeping. Isn't sickness just awesome - a microscopic element floors you. And to top it off, I'm looking at a 100-mile road race tomorrow morning through the thriving metropolis of Paskenta, California......and the Apple Pie Criterium next Saturday in Santa Rosa, California. Ah yes, the annual bout of bronchitis and sickness as a bicycle racer - I remember those days well. Maybe I could just fake it. Hmmmm. Probably not. Sort of hard to fake it when the guys from Safeway, Bicycles Plus and my own team are battling it out for victory. Maybe they won't notice me sick - figure I'll just draft off the Thurmanator the whole ride and keep quiet.
