All the R.A.C.E. Events are FREE to enter - the goal is to get you out there on your bicycles for fun & fitness!!



Wednesday, June 1st - The FAST 50 - 6:00PM:
The long-running "Fast 50" Wednesday night rides! The starting spot for this ride is in the parking lot of Rosedale Elementary School located at 100 Oak Street here in Chico. The ride leaves promptly at 6:00pm from the parking lot area. Many different levels of cyclists out there, so hook up with someone and enjoy the ride! A few other groups meet up at 5:30pm to do a more civilized-paced ride, so come on out!! A map of the course can be found here:

Thursday, June 2nd - River Road 10-Mile Time Trial - 6:00pm:
Registration will open at 5:40pm, with the first rider going off at 6:01pm. We will go in 1-minute intervals for this 5-miles out, 5-miles back, all-flat Time Trial. This classic Chico Time Trial course has been used for the last 31+ years. Come on out after work and give this one a shot! An extremely rough draft of this course can be found here:

Friday, June 3rd - The "Points Race" Chico Airport Criterium - 6:00PM(As & Bs) & 7:00PM(Cs and Junior Races):
This event will be held at the Chico Airport Criterium course starting at 6:00pm(for As & Bs) and 7:00pm(for Category C and Kids race)! Registration will open at 5:40pm on Convair avenue at the Airport - with the first event starting promptly at 6:00pm. We'll be using our standard Tuesday/Friday Night Chico Airport Criterium course starting/finishing at Convair Avenue:

***Now - the format: In this particular case, a points race is just a criterium whereby the rider with the MOST points at the end of the race is declared the winner. Normally, this is a mass start track cycling event involving large numbers of riders simultaneously on track. However, we're going to use this "track" format of racing for this Friday Night Criterium. ALL of the Primes offered in this race will be of the 3-place variety - So, for every Prime Lap, 6 points goes to 1st place, 4 points goes to 2nd place and 2 points goes to 3rd place. In addition to the Prime Sprints, any riders lapping the main field is awarded an extra 20 points. And, again, the rider in each Category with the MOST points will be declared the winner of the race. The Final Sprint points awarded will go 30 to 1st, 28 to 2nd, 26 to 3rd and so on. Plenty of 3-Place Primes will be offered in this one, so come on out and give it a shot! The Category "A" Event will go for 50 minutes PLUS 3 laps, with the Category "B" Event going for 45 minutes PLUS 3 laps.
The Category C and Juniors Race will go for 20 Minutes PLUS 3 laps. Riders must sign in and wear a helmet in order to compete. Prime Points will count towards the 2011 Chico Airport Criterium Series!
RAIN OR WET PAVEMENT WILL ALWAYS CANCEL THIS EVENT!

Saturday, June 4th - The Inskip Uphill Time Trial/Road Race (starts at the intersection of Skyway & Coutelenc Road) - 9:00AM - MASS START EVENT:
Registration will open at 8:30am at the intersection of The Skyway & Coutelenc Road(there is a dirt parking lot right at the start). Due to the length of this climb, we will be starting as a "group", but each rider will be timed to the top of the climb. The Start will be at 9:00AM. Look for me and the R.A.C.E.mobile at the Starting area. The Inskip Uphill Time Trial/Road Race course is approximately 18 miles in length and has about 3,000 feet of total climbing - and is considered a Category 1 climb in the 2011 25-race Butte Hill Climb Time Trial Series - AND, will also count towards this year's Butte Road R.A.C.E. Series! The Time Trial starts at the intersection of The Skyway & Coutelenc Road(where we normally start the Coutelenc Uphill Time Trial) and will follow Coutelenc Road to Lovelock. From there, the riders will take The Skyway up and up and up - all the way to Inskip. This is one of the most beautiful Time Trials in the Series - hope you can make it out for this one! This is a training event to get y'all ready for those upcoming mountain bike races - and, in particular, the Bidwell Bump taking place on August 27th, 2011!! Hope you can make it out to this one!
