Registration opens at 5:40pm, with the first rider going off at 6:01pm. We will go in 1-minute intervals for this 5-miles out, 5-miles back, all-flat Time Trial. This classic Chico Time Trial course has been used for the last 29+ years. Come on out after work and give this one a shot! An extremely rough draft of this course can be found here:
http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/River-Road-10-Mile-TT-Course
(yes, the course is really 10 miles, not 9.9). And if you look at the Elevation Profile......it might tell you why coming back always seems a bit tougher than going out!
Rain does not cancel!
(10-point event in the 2011 Chico Time Trial Series)

Friday, April 8th - The "Devil Takes The Hindmost" Chico Airport Criterium - 6:00PM(As & Bs) & 7:00PM(Cs and Junior Races):
This event will be held at the Chico Airport Criterium course starting at 6:00pm(for As & Bs) and 7:00pm(for Category C and Kids race)! Registration will open at 5:40pm on Convair avenue at the Airport - with the first event starting promptly at 6:00pm. We'll be using our standard Tuesday/Friday Night Chico Airport Criterium course starting/finishing at Convair Avenue:
http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Chico-Airport-Tuesday-Night-Crit-Course
Now - the format: The "Devil Takes The Hindmost" is a format used in track racing......but we are using it out at the Criterium on this night. The races will go for 30 minutes at first......then, after that point, the rider who crosses the start/finish line LAST each lap will be pulled from the race. Once we are down to 2 riders left per Category, there will be 1 lap to go - and the race will be on. This is a tricky race - you MUST know where you are at all times once we reach the 30 minute mark - KNOW whether or not you are in last place coming across the line......the Devil has a tendency to take the unsuspecting in these races!! If I call you OUT, you must pull out of the race.
The Category C and Juniors Race will go for 20 Minutes PLUS 3 laps, IF there is enough light outside to hold a race. Riders must sign in and wear a helmet in order to compete. Prime Points will count towards the 2011 Chico Airport Criterium Series!
RAIN OR WET PAVEMENT WILL ALWAYS CANCEL THIS EVENT. Helmets are mandatory!!
(DOUBLE POINT EVENT in the 2011 Chico Airport Criterium Series!)

Saturday, April 9th - The Forest Ranch-to-Lomo Uphill Time Trial - 9:00AM:
This one will be held rain or shine, and is a Category 2 climb in this Series. The course starts across the street from the Forest Ranch Store - on Hwy. 32. The course goes up and up - all the way to Lomo.......which is the entry to the road that goes up to Butte Meadows. Registration will open at 8:30am at the Start location on Hwy. 32 - there is parking across the street in the parking area - with the first rider taking off at 9:01am.....and we will go in 1-minute intervals. Look for me and the R.A.C.E.mobile at the start area. See map link below too. The Forest Ranch-to-Lomo climb is considered a Category 2 climb in the Series, and climbs approximately 2,400 feet over 13.2 miles.....and is quite the LONG climb!! For a map of the Forest Ranch-to-Lomo Uphill Time Trial course, please visit the following link:
http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Forest-Ranch-to-Lomo-Time-Trial
***And, I still need 1 volunteer to help me start the riders off that morning as well - If you can help out, just send me an e-mail - you get a 3-point bonus in the Series, you still get to race it(just be the last rider to start), and you will have my undying gratitude.
HELD RAIN OR SHINE! Helmets are mandatory!
(Event #15 in the 25-Race 2011 Butte Hill Climb Time Trial Series)

Saturday, April 9th - The "Kids ONLY" Humboldt Road Race - 1:00PM:
From the bottom of the climb up to the main Power Lines (it's about half-way up Humboldt = 2 miles up, 400 feet of total climbing!) - For the kids under the Age of 16 who have been showing up to the Chico Airport Criteriums - now's your chance to experience a ROAD RACE!! Well.....at least a little one!! Registration will open at the bottom of the hill (near the intersection of Humboldt Road & Stilson Canyon Road) at 12:40pm. The RACE will start at 1:00pm. This one is 2 miles long and climbs approximately 400 feet - so bring your climbing legs!! I will have water at the Start & Finish. We're going just up to the Power Lines - not all the way up to the top. MENTORS are STRONGLY encouraged to attend - to keep an eye on our riders, help them out and encourage them up the hill. I will also be there with the SAG Vehicle, if needed. ***One Note - If enough older kids show, we may do a race up to the top of Humboldt too, depending upon help & logistics. For a map of the "Kids Only" course, please visit:

The Start/Finish location is on Aguas Frias Road - right at the 10-Mile Time Trial Start/Finish spot, just south of Dayton 4-corners. This course is approximately 10.6 miles in length, includes about 59 feet of climbing per lap, and has a 3-mile section of dirt/gravel in it......GREAT training for the upcoming Chico Stage Race. Category "A" & "B" will each do 3 laps of this course - for a total of 31.8 miles. Category "B" will include the Juniors, Women's, Masters and Category "C" riders.....all scored separately. Category "C" & "Juniors" will do just 2 laps of the course. Registration will open at 11:30am - with the Category "A" race going off at NOON - and the Category "B" race going off at 12:02pm. The course follows a Clockwise direction - south on Aguas Frias, west on Grainland Road(the gravel section), north on 7-Mile Lane, east on Ord Ferry Road.....and then back south again on Aguas Frias Road. The turns will be marked with Route Arrows. YES - you road bikes will work great, but you can also use Cyclocross bicycles...mountain bikes....or whatever you might have lying around(a unicycle?). I will have water at the Start/Finish area. A map of this course can be found here:
http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/The-Grainland-Road-Race
Hope you can come out to give this one a shot!!
Held Rain or Shine - Also, you can ride the Tour de Ed in the morning....then head out for this one!
ALL proceeds from this race will go to the Chico Cyclist Care Fund!
