Thursday, March 17th - River Road 10-Mile Time Trial - 6:00pm:

- Registration will open at 5:40pm, with the first rider going off at 6:01pm. We will go in 1-minute intervals for this 5-miles out, 5-miles back, all-flat Time Trial. This classic Chico Time Trial course has been used for the last 31+ years. Come on out after work and give this one a shot! An extremely rough draft of this course can be found here:

Friday, March 18th - Chico Airport Criterium - 6:00PM(As & Bs) & 7:00PM(Cs and Kids Races):

This event will be held at the Chico Airport Criterium course starting at 6:00pm(for As & Bs) and 7:00pm(for Category C and Kids race)! Registration will open at 5:40pm on Convair avenue at the Airport - with the first event starting promptly at 6:00pm. We'll be using our standard Tuesday/Friday Night Chico Airport Criterium course starting/finishing at Convair Avenue:

Category "A" riders will go for 50 Minutes PLUS 3 laps, while Category "B" riders will go for 45 Minutes PLUS 3 laps - Women's Category/Masters Category picked separately. The Category C and Kids Only Race will go for 15 Minutes PLUS 3 laps, IF there is enough light outside to hold a race. Riders must sign in and wear a helmet in order to compete.
RAIN OR WET PAVEMENT WILL ALWAYS CANCEL THIS EVENT. Helmets are mandatory!!

Saturday, March 19th - The Dark Canyon Uphill Time Trial - 9:00AM:

This one will be held rain or shine(snow & ice will postpone it though), and is a Category 3 climb in this Series. Registration will open at 8:30am, with the 1st rider taking off at 9:01am - and we will go in 1-minute intervals. The Dark Canyon Uphill Time Trial course was used last year for the first time and - wow - what a climb! The road is very quiet - and the climb is very consistent, with some steep sections. The course is just off of Hwy. 70 - further up from Yankee Hill and Lunt Road. Take the Right Turn at Big Bend Road off of Hwy. 70.....and follow it down and down to Dark Canyon Road. The start location is at the bottom of Dark Canyon Road - near the old boat launch. Just look for me and the R.A.C.E.mobile at the start location(there's a parking area near the start). The last time we did this climb, I don't think we had a single car on the road during the entire Time Trial - had the road all to ourselves......and the area is very beautiful!! The Dark Canyon Uphill Time Trial course is approximately 3.5 miles in length, climbs approximately 2,200 feet, and is considered a Category 3 Climb in the Series. Saturday, March 19th - The "Kids ONLY" Humboldt Road Race - 1:00PM:

From the bottom of the climb up to the main Power Lines (it's about half-way up Humboldt = 2 miles up, 400 feet of total climbing!) - For the kids under the age of 16 - now's your chance to experience a ROAD RACE!! Well.....at least a little one!! Registration will open at the bottom of the hill (near the intersection of Humboldt Road & Stilson Canyon Road) at 12:40pm. The RACE will start promptly at 1:00pm. Rain Will Cancel!! This one is 2 miles long and climbs approximately 400 feet - so bring your climbing legs!! I will have water at the Start & Finish. We're going just up to the Power Lines - not all the way up to the top - UNLESS the riders WANT to go all the way to the TOP(3.5 miles and 700 feet of climbing). MENTORS are STRONGLY encouraged to attend - to keep an eye on our riders, help them out and encourage them up the hill. I will also be there with the SAG Vehicle, if needed. ***One Note - If enough older kids show, we may do a race up to the top of Humboldt too, depending upon help & logistics. Sunday, March 20th - The Honey Run Road Race - 9:00AM:

This is very hilly Road Race, which climbs Honey Run Road twice! However, RAIN WILL CANCEL THIS ROAD RACE! Registration will open at 8:30am at the end of the Steve Harrison Memorial Bike Path(right next to The Skyway - just before the left-hand turn on the bike path to get to Honey Run Road). Look for me and the R.A.C.E.mobile at the start location. The Road Race is open to Category "A", Category "B" and Women's Categories. The Course is approximately 29 miles in length and climbs approximately 2,700 feet. The race has a Neutral Start from the Bike Path until the riders get on to the main road to get into Butte Creek Canyon - from there, it's on. KOM/QOM for the 1st Male & Female riders in each category for the 1st time up Honey Run Road. After the first time up Honey Run, the riders will come down The Skyway(single file, please - and be careful!). At the bottom, make the right-hand turn on to Honey Run Road to get back into Butte Creek Canyon - and UP Honey Run for the 2nd & last time. The Finish Line is at the top of Honey Run Road after the 2nd time up. Category "A" will start at 9:00am, and Category "B" will start at 9:02am. Again, most USA Cycling rules apply to these races - you know, WEAR YOUR HELMET, don't ride like a nutcase, obey the centerline, and all that good stuff. A mention about Tri Bars - You can have Tri Bars on your bicycle - BUT, you must NOT use them if you are in a pack or paceline! Normally, in a USA Cycling sanctioned race, you would not be allowed to have them on your bicycle - but I know many of us like them on our bicycles and use them for training. This isn't the World Championships - we do these Events for fun, fitness and practice - but please do NOT use your Tri Bars in a pack/paceline situation.
