Tuesday Night's Chico Airport Criterium..................

Tuesday, June 30th - Tuesday Night Airport Criterium - 6:00PM (As & Bs) & 7:00PM (Cs) - Registration normally opens at 5:45pm on Convair avenue at the Airport - with the event starting promptly at 6:00pm. For the time being, we'll be using our standard Tuesday Night course starting/finishing at Convair Avenue - http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Chico-Airport-Tuesday-Night-Crit-Course . Category "A" riders will go for 50 Minutes PLUS 3 laps, while Category "B" riders will go for 45 Minutes PLUS 3 laps - Women's Category picked separately. Lots of Point Primes offered in this one!! Must sign in and wear a helmet in order to compete. RAIN OR WET PAVEMENT WILL CANCEL THIS EVENT. (Part of the 2009 Chico Airport Criterium Series!)

**** One Note About This Tuesday Night's Airport Criterium - June 30th - 7:00PM - will also have a Category "C" race going off at 7:00PM. The "C" race will be approximately 30 minutes + 3 laps. If you are intimidated by the Criterium and/or the speeds out there, this is the Category to get a feel for what's going on without the crazy speeds. No other Category races will be on the course - just Category "C" - so you can get used to the course, etc. The event MAY be mentored as well, depending upon whether ANY Category "A" or highly-ranked Category "B" riders(basically, any top 15 riders in the Current Standings in the "B" Category) are available to mentor. A mentor basically sits in with your group during the race, giving you basic pointers and helpful advice to keep you safe, skilled and sound during the event - and for future events. Mentors must meet with me prior to the event - so, if you would like to volunteer to be a Criterium Mentor, see me at the race on Tuesday Night or e-mail me prior to the Event - lorrod7@comcast.net . Also - If anyone would like to donate Prime Prizes for any of the events, please bring them out to the Criterium or e-mail me.

CRITERIUM NOTES:

Hi Everyone!! With summer here, the evening Criteriums are becoming quite popular out at the Airport. So, with that in mind, I would like to just give a few pointers out there to keep everyone safe and sound.....and having a good ride out at the event:

1. Category "B" Riders - During the event, make certain that you do NOT mix in with the Category "A" Riders.......if they come up on you, let them take the left-side of the course and let them pass you!! Do NOT draft them, and do not block their way......just keep it nice and smooth. If you have been lapped or dropped by the "B" Category, do NOT use the "A" Category pack to get back up to the "B" group.

2. Category "A" Riders - Same as No. 1 - if the "B" group is going faster, let them pass on the left side and do not draft off of them, or mix in with their group. In turn, if y'all are passing the "B" group - pass them......don't dangle behind them or in with them......and please communicate your intent, etc. And, like the Bs, don't use the "B" group to get back into the "A" group.

3. Category "B" Riders - You finish your race approximately 5 minutes before the Category "A" race finishes. PLEASE get to the inside lane(right side) of the course during your cool-down lap and let the Category "A" riders continue racing. Better yet, get on the sidewalk ASAP and back to the Start/Finish area......off the course entirely(preferable).

4. Category "C" Riders - PLEASE stay off the Criterium course during the Category "A" & "B" race!!! For warm-up, use other parts of the airport, or even the sidewalk if you can do it safely. Do NOT line up on the Start Line until after the last rider in the Category "A" race finishes.

5. Foul language - PLEASE watch your language out at the Airport Criteriums. We have lots of kids out there now ranging in age from 2 to 15, and lots of other spectators. Any colorful language out there will result in immediate disqualification from both the Current Criterium AND the Series, as well as all Primes, etc. So, as always - just be cool!! Y'all have been fantastic out there all year long - and all of last year - just keep it going that way!

6. Finally - Remember, we do these little events for fun, fitness, to practice some skills - just to have a good time....although quite challenging too!! Dangerous riding, unsafe moves, belligerent attitudes, unsportsmanlike conduct and over-the-top riding will NOT be tolerated. Keep it simple, keep it safe....and just use these events for what they really are......just little training events! A 5-point Prime Prize is NOT worth taking out you or any other rider - so, just be safe out there, as always. Everyone thus far has been OUTSTANDING in every aspect - just want to keep it going that way.

Thanks everyone for your participation in these little Airport Criteriums - y'all are the BEST!!!!

Wednesday, July 1st - FAST 50 - 6:00PM - The long-running independent "Fast 50" Wednesday night rides! The starting spot for this ride is in the parking lot of Rosedale Elementary School located at 100 Oak Street here in Chico. The ride leaves promptly at 6:00pm from the parking lot area. Many different levels of cyclists out there, so hook up with someone and enjoy the ride! A map of the course can be found here: http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Fast-50255824 Rain does not cancel!

6:00 PM Thursday, July 2nd - River Road 10-Mile Time Trial - 6:00pm (No morning Time Trial today - sorry!) - Registration opens at 5:40pm, with the first rider going off at 6:01pm. We will go in 1-minute intervals for this 5-miles out, 5-miles back, all-flat Time Trial. This classic Chico Time Trial course has been used for the last 29+ years. Come on out after work and give this one a shot! An extremely rough draft of this course can be found here - http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/River-Road-10-Mile-TT-Course (yes, the course is really 10 miles, not 9.9). And if you look at the Elevation Profile......it might tell you why coming back always seems a bit tougher than going out! (Part of the 2009 Chico 10-Mile Time Trial Series!)

Friday, July 3rd - Taking the day off.

Saturday, July 4th - Taking the day off.

Sunday, July 5th - Coal Canyon Circuit Race - 9:00AM - A NEW Circuit Race Course to try out for 2009!! This 5.9 mile long loop goes over rolling terrain and climbs approximately 290 feet per lap. Will suit a variety of riders. Registration will open at 8:30am NEAR the intersection of Coal Canyon Road-Wheelock Road & Hwy. 70. The Category "A" Race will go off at 9:00AM, the Category "B" Race will go at 9:02AM, and the Category "C" Race will go at 9:04AM. Category "A" & "B" Riders will do 6 laps each - for a total of 35.4 Miles and 1,740 feet of total climbing. The Category "C" Race will go 3 laps - for a total of 17.7 Miles and 870 feet of total climbing (the "C" race will not be counted towards the Road R.A.C.E. Series). The Start/Finish Line is located on Coal Canyon Road - just up the road from the intersection of Wheelock Road & Hwy. 70. You will travel in a clockwise direction from Coal Canyon Road to Hwy. 70....and back to Coal Canyon Road....for one lap. For a map of this course, please visit: http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Coal-Canyon-Circuit-Race . I will be bringing some water bottles out there to pass out to riders, BUT - water bottle hand-ups will be solely dependent upon volunteers! Parking is somewhat available at the Start/Finish area of the course - but the best bet is to park at Spring Valley School and just ride down to the Start Area on Coal Canyon Road........approximately 2.7 miles away from the school(and downhill when heading to Coal Canyon). Most United States Cycling Federation rules apply to these races - you know, WEAR YOUR HELMET, don't ride like a nutcase, and all that good stuff. Sandbaggers are strongly discouraged (a Sandbagger would be a Category "A" rider racing a Category "B" or "C" race - must be completely obvious to the Race Director). The Race Director reserves the right to DQ any rider deemed unsafe or unsportsmanlike. A mention about Tri Bars - You can have Tri Bars on your bicycle - BUT, you must NOT use them if you are in a pack or paceline - especially on this course! Normally, in a United States Cycling Federation race, you would not be allowed to have them on your bicycle in a mass-start event like this one - but I know many of us like them on our bicycles and use them for training. This isn't the World Championships - we do these Circuit Races for fun, fitness and practice - but please do NOT use your Tri Bars in a pack/paceline situation. HELMETS ARE MANDATORY! Trophy Event (Part of the 2009 Chico Road R.A.C.E. Series)

INFORMATION REGARDING THE 2009 CHICO 25-MILE TIME TRIAL SERIES:

1. There will be more than 1 course used for this year's 25-Mile Time Trial Series. The courses will be around the Chico area - Aguas Frias Road, 7-Mile Lane and possibly others. The idea is to get a feel for the various 25-Mile TT routes around the area.....and just to challenge yourself a bit! Many of these Time Trials will be on Thursday evenings at 6:00PM - however, there may be one that is thrown in on a different weeknight - or on the weekend. ALL of these Time Trials will be flat to fairly flat. There will be 6 Time Trials that count towards this Series - 1 per month from April through September 2009.

2. ALL riders must sign in this year - Like all the events so far this year, you just need to sign in at the start in order to enter the event. And, as usual in these Time Trials, we will be going in 1-minute Intervals. Again, donations are always accepted and appreciated - but all of the events are FREE!

3. Rain and Wind will not cancel the Time Trials, unless specified by the Race Director. However, crudy air conditions(ex. - last year's Humboldt Fire) will cancel them.

4. Helmets are MANDATORY! So, please....please.....wear your helmet! Please!! AND - Yes, Aero Equipment is allowed!! So.....wear an aero helmet!! Or just a regular one!!

5. All are welcome - you don't have to do the Series - just come on out and give one or two of these events a shot! It's amazing what kind of workout you can get in during a 25-Mile Time Trial! And it's just you against the clock!!

6. Points are used to calculate the Overall Standings in this particular Series(makes it easier for the promoter - sorry!). The point breakdown is as follows: 10-8-6-4-2-1-1-1-1, with an additional 4 points being given to each participant who completes each event. So, 10 points goes to the winner, 8 points goes to 2nd place, 6 points goes to 3rd place and so on.........everyone who finishes 6th or beyond gets 1-point for completing the event. The rider with the MOST points at the end of the Series wins the Overall Title - and the Chico 25-MIle Time Trial Series Championship Trophy, plus whatever goodies we can give you. Points will be broken down by Category. Once you enter and finish an event, you are entered in the Series. However, the Race Director reserves the right to DQ anyone at any time - usually for flagrant violations of common sense. ;)

7. The following Categories are eligible for a Series Championship Trophy:

Merckxian Category - NO aero equipment!
Category "A" Men
Women's Category
Women's Masters 45+ Category
Category "B" Men
Men's Masters 45+ Category
Men's Masters 55+ Category
Junior Men
Junior Women
(If the numbers allow it, more Categories will be added!) (Can not enter more than 2 Categories per event).

These are the Categories which all qualify for a Series Championship Trophy. If nobody - or very few folks are in one category - we may eliminate it and add an additional category where the numbers allow it. As usual, sandbaggers are strongly discouraged ( A Sandbagger would be a Category "A" rider entering a Category "B" event). And, as usual, the Series Organizer reserves the right to re-classify you at any time(within reason and with plenty of notice though.....this isn't the UCI!!!)

8. Finally, remember - these Time Trial events are essentially for practice and exercise - we have fun out there and get a great little workout in, and we get to work on some quality cycling. But, overall, they're no big whoop....no World Championship/Olympic medals or million dollar contracts on the line. So, with that in mind, just treat 'em as such - a good training event to try some new things, gain some good fitness.....and maybe even get into a "real" sanctioned race at some point in time. Or not. Just have fun with it!! We'll have trophies and hopefully some prizes for the Series winners - and definitely loads of fun....and pain and suffering. ;) But remember - it's all in good fun!

2009 CHICO ROAD R.A.C.E. SERIES INFORMATION:

After the great turn-out at last year's various Chico Road Races, we're going to be doing them again for 2009......but this time, they will ALSO be in a "Series" format. For those curious, the approximate definition of "Bicycle Road Races" can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Road_bicycle_racing

This Series will go from Saturday, May 30th through mid-September 2009......just before the Henleyville Road Race on September 19th, 2009! Most of these races will be starting at either 8:00AM or 9:00AM on the weekends - but some could be as early as 7:00AM.......and others starting as late as 10:00AM(highly unlikely).

Why have this event???

Looking at cycle racing from an international view, "road racing" is one of the most prestigious aspects of bicycle racing. The greatest racing champions in the hisotry of our great sport - Eddy Merckx, Lance Armstrong, Bernard Hinault, Fausto Coppi, Greg LeMond, Miguel Indurain, Gino Bartali - the list goes on and on and on. These riders were great "road racing" champions. The road race itself requires great stamina, strength, speed, skill and sense to win - or to place. To win a road race - or place highly in a road race consistently - is the epitome of a great cycle racing champion. This contest will track the most consistent riders in the area for road racing. The winner of this event will have a great opportunity for bragging rights - plus, they'll win the Series Championship Trophy!!

How does it work???

Okay, here are a few notes for 2009 Chico Road R.A.C.E. Series:

1. We will be using a variety of courses for this Series - including some flat courses, very hilly courses, somewhat hilly courses, circuit race courses(no Crits) and so forth. The idea is to get a variety of course profiles going for the Series to test the riders a bit. Next year - 2010 - this Series will also be starting much earlier in the year in order to get a feel for different weather conditions as well.

2. ALL riders must sign in this year at the start of EACH event - There will be a small table at the Start/Finish location - just sign in at the table and you are good to go! Sign-ins normally start 30 minutes before the event takes place and closes about 1-2 minutes before the event starts. Rain or wet weather will normally not cancel the events. However, last year we had some tremendous smoke from the Humboldt Fire in this area......which, in turn, may cancel some of the Road Races due to hazardous air quality.

3. There will normally be 2 Categories racing at the Road Races - the Category "A" Event and the Category "B" Event. However, EACH Series Category will be picked separately(Women's, Women's Masters, Men's Masters, Juniors, etc.). Category "A" races will normally start first, with the Category "B" races starting a couple of minutes later. If there are enough racers to have a separate category start after the "B" event, we will make that happen as well.

4. Helmets are MANDATORY! So, please....please.....wear your helmet! Please!!

5. All are welcome - you don't have to do the Series - just come on out and give this Road Race training/riding a shot! They're a GREAT workout!!!

6. Points are used to calculate the Overall Standings in the Series. The point breakdown is as follows: 25-20-18-16-14-12-10-8-6-4-2-1-1-1, with an additional 4 points being given to each participant at each event. So, 25 points goes to the winner, 20 points goes to 2nd place, 18 points goes to 3rd place and so on.........in addition to 4 more points just for doing the event. The rider with the MOST points at the end of the Series wins the Overall Title - and the 2009 Chico Road R.A.C.E. Series Championship Trophy, plus whatever goodies we can give you. If one race proves particularly harsh.........ex. - the Jonesville Road Race on June 7th..............the point breakdown MAY be increased(35 to the winner, 30 to 2nd and so forth). IN ADDITION - It is quite possible that some of the Mini-Road-Races held during the week MAY be counted towards the Overall Title, but with fewer points (think.......5 to the winner, 4 to 2nd, 3 to 3rd and so on.....with NO point bonuses for competing).

7. Although the races are advertised as having 2 Categories out on the course - Category A and Category B - the Series itself has more Trophy Categories, including:

Category "A" Men
Women's Category
Category "B" Men
And any others if there are enough riders!

These are the Categories which all qualify for a Series Championship Trophy - as of NOW. We will ADD Categories if enough riders show up out there - so tell your friends!! If nobody - or very few folks are in one category - we may eliminate it and add an additional category where the numbers allow it. As usual, sandbaggers are strongly discouraged ( A Sandbagger would be a Category "A" rider entering a Category "B" event - this would have to be completely obvious to the Race Director).

In addition, trophies will normally be given out at EACH event for the winners in various categories............depending upon the budget of the Race Director.

8. Although donations to put on these events are always very appreciated and accepted, this Series is FREE - so come on out and take advantage of some, or all, of these Road R.A.C.E.s in 2009!

9. The Race Director reserves the right to DQ any rider for unsafe riding or unsportsmanlike conduct at ANY time. Also, PLEASE - try not to use colorful language out there - especially with the little kids around watching the race at the finish line and so forth. ANY rider breaking these rules can be subject to Disqualification from - not only the race - but from the entire Series. So, please - just do what ya always do and just be cool!!!!

10. Finally, remember - these Road Race events are essentially for practice and exercise - we have fun out there and get a great little workout in, and we get to work on some quality cycling skills. But, overall, they're no big whoop....no World Championship/Olympic medals or million dollar contracts on the line. So, with that in mind, just treat 'em as such - a good training event to try some new things, gain some good fitness.....and maybe even get into a "real" sanctioned Road Race at some point in time. Or not. Just have fun with it!! We'll have trophies and hopefully some prizes for the Series winners - and definitely loads of fun....and pain and suffering. ;) But remember - it's all in good fun!

Hope to see you out there!!

AIRPORT CRITERIUM SERIES INFORMATION:

After the great turn-out at last year's Tuesday Night Chico Airport Criterium Series, we're going to be doing them again for 2009......but starting up a bit earlier this year. For those curious, the definition of "Criterium" is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criterium

This Series starts up next Tuesday, March 10th and will go through September 15th, 2009......just before our Chico Downtown Criterium on September 20th! Registration normally starts at 5:40pm - with the event starting at 6:00pm.

How does it work???

Okay, here are a few notes for this year's Airport "Crit" Series:

1. We will be using more than 1 course for the Crits this year......including throwing in some lefty-turn Crits to get a feel for those - and some Weekend Criteriums as well. For the time being, we'll be using our standard Tuesday Night righty-turn course starting/finishing at Convair Avenue - http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Chico-Airport-Tuesday-Night-Crit-Course

2. ALL riders must sign in this year - There will be a small table on the sidewalk at the Start/Finish location on Convair Avenue - just sign in at the table and you are good to go! Sign-ins start at 5:40pm - the racing action starts at 6:00pm. We usually end the event by 7pm, at the latest - many times earlier than that - to get home before it gets too dark outside. RAIN AND WET PAVEMENT WILL ALWAYS CANCEL THE CRITERIUMS! In addition, last year we had some tremendous smoke from the Humboldt Fire in this area......which, in turn, would also cancel the Criteriums due to hazardous air quality.

3. The Category "B" races normally go for 45-50 minutes PLUS 3 laps.........while the Category "A" races go for 50-60 minutes PLUS 3 laps. There can be anywhere from 1 to 15+ Primes in the Airport Criteriums......just depends on the mood of the Dictator.....er......I mean, Director. ;)

4. Helmets are MANDATORY! So, please....please.....wear your helmet! Please!!

5. All are welcome - you don't have to do the Series - just come on out and give this Criterium training/riding a shot! It's amazing what kind of workout you can get in during a 45 to 60 minute practice event.

6. Points are used to calculate the Overall Standings in the Series. The point breakdown is as follows: 7-5-4-3-2-1, with an additional 1 point being given to each participant at each event. So, 7 points goes to the winner, 5 points goes to 2nd place, 4 points goes to 3rd place and so on.........in addition to 1 more point just for doing the event. The rider with the MOST points at the end of the Series wins the Overall Title - and the Chico Airport Series Championship Trophy, plus whatever goodies we can give you. Also, Prime points will be given out during each of the Crits - these are just lap prizes......but in this case, the prizes are points. We will also be having some product Primes out there this year!

7. Last year, we had just two categories during the races - Category A and Category B. However, the Series itself has even more Trophy Categories, including:

Category "A" Men
Women's Category
Women's Masters 40+ Category
Category "B" Men
Men's Masters 40+ Category
Men's Masters 50+ Category

These are the Categories which all qualify for a Series Championship Trophy. If nobody - or very few folks are in one category - we may eliminate it and add an additional category where the numbers allow it. As usual, sandbaggers are strongly discouraged ( A Sandbagger would be a Category "A" rider entering a Category "B" event).

8. Although donations to put on these events are always very appreciated and accepted, this Series is FREE - so come on out and take advantage of some, or all, of these Criteriums in 2009!

9. The Race Director reserves the right to DQ any rider for unsafe riding or unsportsmanlike conduct at ANY time. Also, PLEASE - NO colorful language will be used out there - especially with the little kids around watching the race(we have kids out there from ages 2 to 12 watching the racing action)!! ANY rider breaking these rules can be subject to Disqualification from - not only the race - but from the entire Series. So, please - just do what ya always do and just be cool!!!!

10. Finally, remember - these Criterium events are essentially for practice and exercise - we have fun out there and get a great little workout in, and we get to work on some quality cycling skills. But, overall, they're no big whoop....no World Championship/Olympic medals or million dollar contracts on the line. So, with that in mind, just treat 'em as such - a good training event to try some new things, gain some good fitness.....and maybe even get into a "real" sanctioned Criterium at some point in time. Or not. Just have fun with it!! We'll have trophies and hopefully some prizes for the Series winners - and definitely loads of fun....and pain and suffering. ;) But remember - it's all in good fun!

Hope to see you out there!!

INFORMATION REGARDING THE 2009 CHICO 10-MILE TIME TRIAL SERIES:

1. There will be more than 1 course used for this year's 10-Mile Time Trial Series. The courses will be scattered around the Chico area - Chico River Road, River Road, Aguas Frias Road, 7-Mile Lane, Lassen Road, Meridian Road and others to be announced as the weeks go on. The idea is to get a feel for the various 10-Mile TT routes around the area.....and just to challenge yourself a bit! Many of these Time Trials will be on Thursday evenings at 6:00PM - however, there may be a few that are thrown in on a different weeknight - or on the weekend. ALL of these Time Trials will be flat to fairly flat. Most of the Thursday Night 10-Mile Time Trials WILL count towards the Series Overall Standings. (There will be a 25-Mile TT Series, as well as a 6-Mile TT Series, announced soon).

It's amazing what kind of workout you can get in during a 20 to 45 minute 10-Mile Time Trial! And it's just you against the clock!!

6. Points are used to calculate the Overall Standings in this particular Series(makes it easier for the promoter - sorry!). The point breakdown is as follows: 10-8-6-4-2-1-1-1-1, with an additional 2 points being given to each participant who completes each event. So, 10 points goes to the winner, 8 points goes to 2nd place, 6 points goes to 3rd place and so on.........everyone who finishes 6th or beyond gets 1-point for completing the event. The rider with the MOST points at the end of the Series wins the Overall Title - and the Chico 10-MIle Time Trial Series Championship Trophy, plus whatever goodies we can give you. Points will be broken down by Category. Once you enter and finish an event, you are entered in the Series.

8:00AM Saturday Road Race....................

Temperatures are predicted to be 105 degrees this Saturday afternoon. To avoid further pain and suffering, we'll be starting the Table Mountain Road Race at 8:00AM on Saturday....not 9.

Saturday, June 27th - Table Mountain Road Race - 8:00AM - 2 LAPS = 50 MILES & 4,100 FEET OF CLIMBING!! - TROPHY EVENT - This particular course was first used by the Chico Velo Cycling Club as a USCF RR course in 1984 during the Chico Omnium(which also included the 7-Mile Lane Time Trial and the Chico Downtown Criterium that year). Most groups did 2 laps of this course, but the Cat.1/2 guys did 3 or 4. Unlike the last time we did this race(in May), we will be doing 2 laps this time around. 2 Laps = 50 Miles & 4,100 feet of climbing!!! I will have water bottles at the Start/Finish Line this time around and will try to hand off as many bottles as possible during the event as you come in to finish your first lap. The course preview is located on Bikely.com here - and you can see the Course Profile by clicking on "Show" in the top left-hand corner........then clicking on "Elevation Profile":

http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Old-Table-Mountain-Road-Race-Course

Like the Messilla Valley Circuit Race, this will have a Category "A" and a Category "B". The Start/Finish Line is located on Table Mountain Boulevard right by Table Mountain Ranch Road(see Bikely Map - this was the Start/Finish Line for the 1984 race as well - I'll be out there early, so look for the registration table). Each Category will do 2 laps = 50 miles. Registration will open at 7:30AM with Category A going off at 8:00AM........and Category B going at 8:03AM. Women's Category will be scored separately. Parking is available on the unfinished freeway overpass at the Start/Finish Line.

Now, a word of warning - This course goes in a clockwise direction - meaning that you will be climbing up to Cherokee from Hwy. 70. Although the hill does not seem quite as difficult as from the other side(the Wildflower Century side), the descent off Table Mountain will be quite tricky. Make certain that your bicycle is in good working order and that you are comfortable on technical descents. The Road Race course goes through amazingly diverse sections and is quite scenic - but please look out for one another and for yourselves, especially on the descent and on the Highway. All USCF rules apply, as usual - you know, don't do stupid stuff, WEAR A HELMET, obey the centerline, etc. Route Arrows will mark the course as well. Bottle hand ups and Feed Zones will be solely dependent upon volunteers - Feed Zone is pretty much anywhere on the course. Sag vehicles will be solely dependent upon volunteers as well. I will be sweeping the course at the end as well - so if I don't see you back at the Finish, I'm coming to get you! Trophy Event (Part of the 2009 Chico Road R.A.C.E. Series)

Friday Night Chico Airport Criterium!!

FRIDAY, June 26th - FRIDAY Night Airport Criterium - 6:00PM (As & Bs) & 7:00PM (Cs) - EXPECT LOTS OF POINT PRIMES!!! Registration normally opens at 5:45pm on Convair avenue at the Airport - with the event starting promptly at 6:00pm.

**** One Note About This FRIDAY Night's Airport Criterium - June 26th - 7:00PM - will also have a Category "C" race going off at 7:00PM. The "C" race will be 30 minutes + 3 laps. If you are intimidated by the Criterium and/or the speeds out there, this is the Category to get a feel for what's going on without the crazy speeds. No other Category races will be on the course - just Category "C" - so you can get used to the course, etc. The event MAY be mentored as well, depending upon whether ANY Category "A" or highly-ranked Category "B" riders(basically, any top 10 riders in the Current Standings in the "B" Category) are available to mentor. A mentor basically sits in with your group during the race, giving you basic pointers and helpful advice to keep you safe, skilled and sound during the event - and for future events. Mentors must meet with me prior to the event - so, if you would like to volunteer to be a Criterium Mentor, see me at the race on Friday Night or e-mail me prior to the Event - lorrod7@comcast.net .
